My latest cats are Buddy and Tiger, a mother/son duo who live in my studio. Tiger was a frightened stray who showed up on the doorstep outside an apartment I lived in for awhile with a prominent posting of “NO ANIMALS ALLOWED”. She was skittish and ragged and extremely thin. I fed her on the doorstep for a few days before noticing she was pregnant. With some difficulty I managed to grab her and throw her into my suburban where she raced frantically from front to back screeching madly and throwing herself wildly against the windshield. At the vet’s office I asked someone to help me get her out of the car. We wrestled her into a cage and I explained the situation. The vet kindly agreed to keep her until she had her kittens and to perhaps find a home for them. I visited every day and realized that while she couldn’t live in my apartment, she could live in my work studio.
